Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday held talks with Myanmar’s Foreign Minister in Islamabad, with both sides terming the discussions “very productive” as Pakistan looks to reinvigorate bilateral relations. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, energy and people-to-people contacts.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Dar underscored Pakistan’s desire to strengthen political and economic engagement with Myanmar and emphasised the importance of regular high-level exchanges. He highlighted opportunities for expanding bilateral trade and called for closer collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly within regional and multilateral frameworks.
The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments, reaffirming their commitment to peace, stability and cooperation in the region. Both sides agreed to maintain momentum in bilateral ties through continued dialogue and follow-up engagements, with an understanding to explore new avenues for cooperation in the coming months.
