
Lahore, July 17, 2025 – Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, paid a pivotal visit to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Central Zonal Office in Lahore to review the progress of ongoing initiatives and reinforce the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in service delivery.
Upon arrival, the Minister was warmly welcomed by Director General BISP Punjab, Muhammad Nasir Khalily. During the meeting DG BISP Punjab provided a comprehensive briefing on BISP’s operations across the Punjab region. DG Punjab highlighted that under the Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) initiative — the Benazir Kafaalat Programme — financial assistance is currently being disbursed to around 4.7 million deserving families of Punjab.
The briefing also covered the impact of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme for education, Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, which has significantly contributed to the enrollment and retention of children in schools. Notably, the programme has facilitated the enrollment of 8.2 Millions children in Punjab since inception, ensuring continued access to education for underprivileged communities. Additionally, the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, which addresses the nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating women as well as infants, remains a vital intervention for combating malnutrition.
The Federal Minister emphasized the importance of timely and effective resolution of beneficiary complaints, instructing officials to strengthen grievance redressal mechanisms and ensure that concerns are addressed with urgency and empathy. He also appreciated the efforts of the BISP Punjab team, commending their dedication and hard work in delivering critical services to millions of vulnerable families across the province.
The Federal Minister also emphasizes promoting the Empowering the Future through the Benazir Hunarmand Programme. Through the Hunarmand Technical Training Program, the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) is dedicated to strengthening its beneficiaries and their offspring. This program promotes economic independence throughout Pakistan by offering necessary skills for long-term livelihoods.
Director General OM BISP HQ Fawad Nawaz Kiyani, Director CZO Waqar un Nisa and Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors were also present there.
