During her visit, she met with deserving women enrolled in the Benazir Kafalat Program, listened to their concerns, and instructed the staff to resolve their issues promptly.
While personally overseeing the disbursement of quarterly installments to women at the campsite, Senator Rubina Khalid advised that women should not visit the campsite unless they receive a payment confirmation message from 8171, in order to avoid unnecessary crowding. She emphasized that no fee is charged for any BISP program, and if anyone demands money for registration or any service, it should be immediately reported to the BISP helpline.
Senator Rubina Khalid explained that once a survey is conducted, it cannot be repeated before two years. However, women who have been receiving assistance for more than three years are required to undergo a new survey. She urged women to register a mobile number that is in their personal use, as it is the primary means of communication with BISP.
She also instructed officials to increase the number of bank representatives at the payment centers to ensure faster disbursement of funds to a larger number of women.
Speaking to media representatives, Senator Rubina Khalid said that the purpose of her visit was to observe ground realities firsthand and to ensure timely resolution of issues faced by beneficiaries. She added that, in accordance with the special directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, financial assistance is being provided to deserving women in a transparent and dignified manner. She further announced that a pilot phase to open individual bank accounts will soon be launched to improve the efficiency and transparency of the payment system. Describing BISP as Pakistan’s largest and most impactful social protection program, she noted its global recognition.
Senator Rubina Khalid highlighted that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto often said, “Skill is your asset.” Following this vision, the Benazir Hunarmand Program has been launched to provide skill-based training to deserving women, empowering them to contribute positively to the national economy.
She also mentioned the Benazir Nashonuma Program, which provides nutritious food and financial support to pregnant and lactating mothers and their children under the age of two to prevent stunting. Moreover, under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Program, children are awarded scholarships conditional on 70% school attendance, with higher stipends for girls to encourage female education.
