𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 – The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UN Women Pakistan to strengthen collaboration on cybersecurity, online protection and digital safety for women and girls across Pakistan. The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Haider Abbas, TI (Director General, National CERT), and Mr. Jamshed M. Kazi (Country Representative, UN Women), in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.The partnership comes at a time when technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), online harassment, intimidation and other cyber-enabled threats continue to pose challenges to women’s meaningful participation in public, political, economic and social life. The collaboration seeks to contribute towards safer, more inclusive and resilient digital environments where women and girls can participate securely and confidently.Under the MoU, National CERT and UN Women will collaborate to strengthen institutional capacities to prevent, identify and respond to cybersecurity risks affecting women, particularly women in politics, women journalists, women leaders, civil society representatives and beneficiaries of UN Women programmes. The partnership will also promote cybersecurity awareness and digital resilience across UN Women, the United Nations system in Pakistan, the Gender Theme Group, government institutions and strategic partners.The collaboration will further support coordinated approaches among relevant national institutions to prevent and respond to technology-facilitated gender-based violence, online abuse and cyber-enabled threats affecting women. It will also foster knowledge exchange, technical cooperation and evidence-based advocacy on cybersecurity, online protection and digital safety, aligned with national priorities and international commitments on gender equality and women’s empowerment.Through this partnership, National CERT and UN Women reaffirm their commitment to advanci ng a safer and more inclusive digital environment in Pakistan, strengthening institutional resilience, and supporting women’s meaningful and secure participation in an increasingly digital society.
