ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – July 27, 2026 – The National Health & Fitness Workshop took place today from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Shoaib Sports, H-13, Golra Road, Furniture Market, Islamabad. Organized under the theme “Physical Activity as a Global Public Health Priority: Bridging Exercise Science and Public Health for Healthier Communities,” the event convened public health stakeholders, fitness professionals, and policymakers to address the growing burden of lifestyle-related diseases.The workshop was a joint initiative of the National Fitness Education & Trainers Alliance (NFETA), founded by Salman Ghafoor Shaikh, and the Sehat-e-Pakistan Research Foundation (SPRF), led by President Mr. Ali Arsalan Zaki and Director Salman Ghafoor Shaikh. The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme supported the event.Syed Yahya Hussain Shah Bukhari, Advisor to the Chairman Senate, attended as the honoured guest and delivered remarks on behalf of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. Mr. Bukhari emphasized the Chairman’s sustained commitment to health and fitness as both a personal priority and a policy focus. He noted that promoting physical well-being is central to reducing chronic disease and supporting individual health across the country.“The Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, is among the leading voices for health and fitness in our national leadership. His commitment is reflected in both personal practice and policy advocacy,” Mr. Bukhari said. He recognized the contributions of the organizing partners: the National Fitness Education & Trainers Alliance, the Sehat-e-Pakistan Research Foundation, Shoaib Sports, and the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.Ahmed Aslam, Advisor to the Chairman Senate on Security Matters, also attended the workshop, underscoring the relevance of health and fitness across diverse sectors of national life.The program addressed the rising incidence of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and mental health conditions, framing regular physical activity as an accessible and effective intervention. Mr. Bukhari stated that exercise serves as a straightforward yet significant form of therapy for both body and mind.“If we are fit, our country will be fit,” he concluded, adding that national strength depends on the health of its people.The event brought together guests, experts, trainers, and community participants in a collective demonstration of support for healthier lifestyles.
