The Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) organized a dignified balloting ceremony for the performance of Hajj 2026 by industrial workers at the WWF Secretariat, Islamabad. The Honorable Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest.
In his address, the Federal Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare and prosperity of workers, terming them as the true asset of the nation. He highlighted the recent increase in facilities for workers, noting that the Marriage Grant has been enhanced from Rs. 400,000 to Rs. 600,000, while the Death Grant has been raised from Rs. 800,000 to Rs. 1,000,000. He also appreciated the efforts of the Secretary Workers Welfare Fund and his team for their dedication.
Secretary WWF, Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmad, welcomed the Federal Minister and provided a detailed briefing on the balloting procedure and eligibility criteria. He informed that WWF will bear all expenses of the selected industrial workers to enable them to perform Hajj with dignity and ease. He further emphasized that under the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, and the guidance of the Federal Minister, the number of beneficiaries of the Hajj scheme has been significantly increased.
He reiterated that the core mission of WWF is to support industrial workers and their families by providing essential facilities, uplifting their living standards, and enhancing their welfare. He added that the Fund is consistently expanding its initiatives to better serve the working community.
On the request of Muhammad Afzal Butt, President of the Pakistan Union of Journalists, the Federal Minister assured that the registration process of media workers with WWF — previously on hold — will be resumed, and necessary steps for relevant legislation will be undertaken. The journalist community expressed gratitude to the Minister for his assurance.
The ceremony concluded with the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Ch Salik Hussain presenting commemorative shields, on behalf of the Workers Welfare Fund, to senior journalists of Pakistan.
