As per the special instructions of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, transparent payments are being ensured for deserving women in a dignified manner. A grand ceremony was organized today at BISP Headquarters, Islamabad, under the auspices of the Benazir Income Support Program on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day. On this occasion, tributes were paid to the glorious success of the historic “Marka-e-Haq” of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, and this moment was declared a source of pride for the entire nation. The ceremony was attended by Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid, Secretary Amer Ali Ahmad, Additional Secretary Dr. Asmat Nawaz, all Director Generals of BISP, development partners, representatives of partner banks, BISP officers, and staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid said, “Today we are celebrating the historic battle of our brave armed forces against Indian aggression. Our army not only gave an effective response to the enemy but also made the entire nation proud.”
Senator Rubina Khalid added that BISP is fighting the war against poverty. She said that, just as the Pakistani Armed Forces ensured the freedom and security of the nation, BISP is making beneficiaries financially independent by giving them the right to receive money through convenience accounts and digital banking.
This will be the first time in the history of Pakistan that 10 million women are being included in the banking system. As per the special instructions of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, transparent payments are being ensured for deserving women in a dignified manner.
She further said that BISP is making every effort to facilitate IBAN numbers and Full Mandate Accounts for beneficiaries, under which deserving women will be able to receive their relief funds directly from the banks of their choice.
Secretary BISP, Aamer Ali Ahmad, said in his remarks that “We are grateful to Allah Almighty and proud of our brave armed forces. Just as our army safeguards the borders of our motherland, BISP stands at the forefront in the fight against poverty and economic injustice. Our staff across the country remain united and committed to the success of this important public mission.”
At the end of the ceremony, Chairperson BISP, along with the Secretary, development partners, representatives of partner banks, BISP officers, and staff, cut the Independence Day cake.
