It claimed the strikes are part of a broader operation codenamed \u2018Rising Lion\u2019 to deter Tehran\u2019s nuclear ambitions, which the latter has consistently&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1722538#:~:text=Iran%20has%20always%20denied%20any%20ambition%20to%20develop%20an%20atomic%20bomb\">denied<\/a>, saying its uranium enrichment programme is for civilian purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Israeli military said two barrages of Iranian missiles were launched toward Israel in the first two hours of Wednesday morning. Explosions were heard over Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Israel told residents in the area of Tehran to evacuate so its air force could strike Iranian military installations. Iranian news websites said explosions were heard in Tehran and the city of Karaj, west of the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iran\u2019s Revolutionary Guard Corps said that hypersonic missiles were used during the latest attack on Israel,&nbsp;<em>AFP<\/em>&nbsp;reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe 11th wave of the proud Operation Honest Promise 3 using Fattah-1 missiles\u201d was carried out, the Guards said in a statement carried by state television, claiming that Iranian forces \u201chave gained complete control over the skies of the occupied territories\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 224 Iranians have been killed and over 1,000 injured, most of them civilians, as of Monday. Israel says 24 people have been killed, mostly civilians.
